"No More War, Healing and Reconciliation"

The Presbyterian Church in the Republic of Korea (PROK) calls "for solidarity and prayers for the pilgrimage for healing and unification commemorating the 70th memorial of the Korean War."

Dear sisters and brothers in Christ,

The year 2020 marks the 70th memorial of the Korean war.
Being mindful of the compassionate support of our sisters and brothers of the global ecumenical family toward healing and unification on the Korean Peninsula, the Presbyterian Church in the Republic of Korea plans to have a 70th memorial function on the 20th June 2020.

70 years have passed, since the armistice agreement was signed. 70 years of division have passed, while holding the Korean people along with the global community captive in fear and despair. The 20th June, is going to mark another beginning of the Korean people's initiative toward healing and unification. This timely gathering where some 500 participants are expected to join, is focusing on:

1. Recognizing that the 'people' are subject and initiator of a peaceful process of healing and unification and urge the government to continue its efforts toward peace and unification.
2. Recovering the insensibility to peace and unification issues and promote its essentiality.
3. Walking together with the global ecumenical family on the pilgrimage for healing and unification on the Korean peninsula.

Today the preparatory committee came together to discuss the basic plans to hold this ceremonial event. The memorial event will be held in Cheorwon along the Civilian Control Line and the DMZ at the former DPRK Labor Party Office and at the Arrowhead Ridge inside the DMZ area, where a proclamation ceremony for a peace statement along with cultural events will take place.

We call all our global partners, sisters and brothers in Christ, to accompany us with prayers and letters of support.
We will keep you informed about the process of preparation and the memorial event. ..."
